After this fight Lyoto Machida had several fights that he won by decision. Then he got back into the KO zone against Thiago Silva, putting the hard hitting Silva away at 4:59 of the 1st rd. at UFC 94: St. Pierre vs. Penn 2.
Machida put on a display of power Knocking out UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans in 3:57 of the 2nd rd. to win the Title at UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida.
